It has always been a long time goal of Hutson to work in baseball. Prior to landing at MLB, Hutson made a few stops with various organizations. This GladiatHer has gotten a taste of sports from soccer, basketball, football and now baseball! In addition to her experience, Hutson took some extra steps to ensure that she would make it to MLB. Hutson was able to make connections in the industry by attending the Baseball Winter Meetings, through alumni of her graduate program and by participating in Minor League Baseball's Fostering Inclusion Through Education and Leadership Development (FIELD) Program.
A graduate of Grand Valley State University with her Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Public Relations, and the University of Central Florida with Master of Business Administration and Master of Sports Business Management, Hutson is well on her way to becoming a rising star in the sports industry where she is representing for women in baseball!
She left us with some words of advice that are worth sharing. "People always say that networking is important, which I agree with, but make sure that you are networking authentically. Try to build connections and not just make contacts. Outside of the fun events or games you might get to experience, I think the best part of this industry is the people in it. It is also very important to always put your best foot forward regardless of what role you are in. Most industries are a lot smaller than people think. I have seen a lot of people slack in part-time roles, internships and entry-level positions that have hurt them down the line when looking for their dream job".
