This week we are featuring Shalisa Griffin for our GladiatHers® Spotlight. Griffin is currently the Director of Business Development and Events for the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. Originally, from Newark, New Jersey before making Orlando her hometown, Griffin attended Delaware State University where she obtained her BS in Sport Management. After graduation she continued her education at the University of Central Florida enrolling in the MBA/MSBM DeVos Sport Business Management Program.
In her current role, Griffin works to strategically solicit professional, collegiate and youth sports events that generate economic impact in the Greater Orlando area. She manages large scale youth tournaments, high school state championships and NCAA national championships. Additionally, she has taken the responsibility in leading community based initiatives within the organization.
During her career Griffin has made stops at Florida Citrus Sports, UCF Athletics Association Inc. and the NCAA, to name a few. From working at the amateur, collegiate and professional level Griffin is pursuing her passion and leaving her mark on those around her.
Griffin also serves on the Board of Directors for Sports2Change, a nonprofit organization that connects high school student athletes with nonprofits in need of volunteers. In her free time she enjoys volunteering with local nonprofits and serving at church. A piece of advice Griffin shared with us and lives by is “the only way to get over the fear of making mistakes is to make them and recover.”
Shalisa Griffin is a woman with purpose who truly embodies what it means to be a GladiatHER. This week we shine the spotlight on her for making her mark in the world and the sports industry!
